Our Great Shepherd: Expository Studies in Psalm 23
This was a four part sermon series in this well known Psalm of David. The material covers the identity of the Shepherd (v. 1); the activity of the Shepherd (vv. 2-3); the protection of the Shepherd (v. 4); the blessing of the shepherd (vv. 5-6). Then follows a sermon entitled The Shepherd is the Lamb, revealing how this Shepherd also gave His life for His sheep. Additional sermons by John Angell James and Horatius Bonar are also included. The Gospel According to Grace
These are expository studies in Romans 1-8. The major emphasis of this work is Romans 6-8, but there are several vital studies in chapters 1-5 which develop Paul’s thought and establish the overall context. This is an in-depth expository study of the gospel of John. The introductory section provides the historical and cultural background of this Gospel. The entire book is then expounded, although much attention given to the seven “I Am” sayings and the seven “signs” around which John constructed his book. The Kingdom Manifesto
These are expository studies in the Sermon on the Mount as recorded in Matthew’s Gospel (5-7). Much detail is given to the beatitudes, and then the Lord’s rebuttal of the Rabbinic tradition of His day. The Life of Christ: According to the Synoptic Gospels
This is basically a harmony of the synoptic gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. It presents all that these gospels reveal about the birth and early life of Jesus; His baptism and temptation; and then samples of His discourses, miracles and parables are given. Special attention is given to the journey toward Jerusalem is it is presented by Luke. When we come to the Passion Week, once again all that the gospels reveal is dealt with in harmonistic fashion. This material is comprised of sermons delivered on the seven “signs” and the seven “sayings” of Jesus that are recorded in the gospel of John. In addition, I have included the seven “cries” from the cross (the seven last words), most of which come from John’s gospel as well.
